ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Kelly — a qualified Makeup Artist based in Wellington, with over 13 years of experience in the beauty industry.

Makeup has always been my passion. After studying Makeup Artistry, I began my career working with some of the industry’s most iconic prestige beauty brands, including Napoleon Perdis, Revlon, and MAC Cosmetics, where I spent over 7 years learning from the best.

Along the way, I had the incredible opportunity to work on events like Wellington Fashion Week, New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW), and with the Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB), gaining invaluable experience.

These experiences have given me a deep knowledge of professional products, advanced application techniques, and how to tailor every look to suit the individual — whether I’m working behind the scenes or with everyday clients.

For the past 13 years, I’ve been offering personalised, one-on-one makeup services throughout Wellington. I specialise in bridal makeup, beauty looks, and creative/artistic makeup, and I absolutely love collaborating with clients to bring their vision to life — whether it’s a soft, romantic bridal glow or a bold editorial statement.

I offer a fully mobile makeup service in the Wellington region, and I’m also available to travel further on request.

I’m so grateful to have built a loyal client base and to keep doing what I love every day — helping people feel confident, beautiful, and like the best version of themselves.

Ready to create your dream look? I’d love to hear from you.

FAQ

Questions I am asked on the regular!

Anything specific please feel free to send me an email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • How far in advance should I book?
Wedding Makeup: I open my books for wedding makeup bookings 12 months in advance. While you're welcome to email me earlier to express interest, I can only accept deposits and confirm bookings once we're within the 12-month window. This ensures I can dedicate the necessary time and resources to your special day. Event Makeup & Lessons: For events or makeup lessons, I can accommodate bookings at any time prior to your date. However, if you have your heart set on a specific date and time, I recommend booking as early as possible. Availability can become limited closer to the date, and I want to ensure I can serve you best. SFX/Halloween & Creative Bookings: For special effects, Halloween, or creative makeup bookings, a minimum of 1 month's notice is preferred. This lead time allows me to source and order any specific products needed for your desired look. Please note that Halloween is an exceptionally busy period, so early enquiries are strongly encouraged to avoid disappointment.
  • When & Why should I book a wedding trial??
Why Should I Have a Bridal Makeup Trial? A bridal trial is a wonderful opportunity to ensure you're completely confident with your wedding day look. It's a time to: Experiment with styles and colours: We can explore different makeup styles, finishes, and shades to find what best complements your features and wedding theme. Test product longevity: You'll experience how the products feel and wear over several hours, ensuring they last beautifully throughout your special day. Address skin sensitivities: It's a chance to identify any potential reactions to products, giving us time to make adjustments if needed. Personalize your look: Together, we'll choose the perfect lip shade, lashes, and other details to complete your desired aesthetic. Plan your wedding day timeline: We can discuss the schedule for the day, ensuring a smooth and relaxed morning. Build rapport: It's a great time to get to know each other better, ensuring you're comfortable and at ease on your big day. When Should I Schedule My Trial? I recommend scheduling your bridal makeup trial 3 to 6 months before your wedding day. This timing allows us to: Align with your evolving vision: As your wedding plans solidify, your ideas may evolve. A trial within this window ensures your look reflects your final vision. Avoid last-minute stress: Scheduling too close to the wedding day can limit availability and add unnecessary pressure. Ensure availability: Booking in advance secures your preferred date and time, ensuring I can dedicate the necessary time to perfect your look. Trials typically take about 1.5 hours, and I recommend booking in the morning. This allows you to experience how the makeup wears throughout the day and see it in natural light. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or if you're ready to schedule your trial. I'm here to help make your wedding day as beautiful and stress-free as possible!
  • How do I prepare for a wedding trial?
What Can I Expect at My Bridal Trial? Whether you arrive with a clear vision or no idea where to start — you’re in the right place, and either is absolutely fine! It’s super helpful if you can bring along a few inspiration photos — even if they’re just elements you like (a lip colour, skin finish, or eye shape). We’ll look at them together and break down what draws you in. Think of your trial like a new client consultation at a salon. I’ll ask you a bunch of questions about your skin type, makeup preferences, and usual routine so I can get a better sense of what will work best for you. This helps me tailor the products and techniques I use to suit your features, style, and the vibe of your day. We’ll work together to create a custom bridal look, and there’s plenty of time to tweak things at the end — from adjusting the eye detail to finding your perfect lipstick shade. If you’re unsure about lashes, this is the perfect time to try them out with no pressure. Please also let me know if you have any skin concerns, allergies, or ingredients/brands you avoid — your comfort and safety always come first. And if possible, try to come to your trial makeup-free so I can see your skin fresh and ready to work with. We’ll also chat through your wedding day timeline, makeup for your bridal party, and any preferences you might have for their looks — so feel free to come with ideas or questions! 💫 Please allow around 1.5 hours for your trial so we have plenty of time to refine everything without any rush.
  • What is your minimum or maximum number for a wedding party?
How Many People Can You Do Makeup For? I can comfortably do up to 7 full makeups on my own, but if you’re planning for a larger group or want to avoid starting too early, I can arrange for an assistant artist to help out. For groups of 5 or more, I recommend bringing in another artist to ensure everyone gets their makeup done in a timely and relaxed manner. Minimum Booking Requirements For weddings in Wellington, I require a minimum of 3 people to book my services. For weddings outside of Wellington, including the Wairarapa, the minimum is 4 people. Touch Ups & Lipstick Application I’ll always make sure to do a final touch-up and a fresh lipstick application for everyone before I leave, so you and your bridal party won’t have to worry about who gets their makeup done first. Everyone will look flawless for the whole day!
  • Do you travel out of the Wellington region??
Yes I can travel anywhere in NZ on request. Please get in contact with me as soon as possible and we can organize any flights or travel costs nice and early.
  • Do you do hair too?
I do not offer any hair styling services currently but I can assist with basics like straightening, extensions and simple curls for an additional fee, this is by enquiry only and for individual event bookings only. Please see my list of incredible local hair stylists recommendations below: Dollhouse Do Youandiartistry Wedding Hair by Rachel Miss Dom Styling Antoinette Kavanagh
  • How long will my makeup take??
Time Frame for Makeup Services Here’s a breakdown of the time I typically allocate for each person’s makeup: Bridal Trial: 1.5 hours Bridal Makeup: 1 hour Bridesmaids: 50 minutes each Mother of the Bride: 45 minutes Flower Girl: 10–20 minutes For other services: Classic Makeup: 50 minutes Full Glam Event Makeup: 1.5 hours SFX/Face Painting: This varies on difficulty, please enquire directly. Wedding Day Timeline Tip: To help you plan, work backwards from when you need to be ready. TIP: Leave at least 45 minutes before you have to leave. This buffer allows you to relax, have a drink, take some photos, and get your shoes, dress, and jewellery on — all without rushing! It’s also a great time to share a moment with your group before the big event.
